Started in 1990 and taking off from 1994 to the present day Ninja Tune has delivered a constant stream of experimental electronic music to the masses from its base in London…
Recently when thinking about a new idea for the next podcast on www.DirtyRadio.org I realised that a whole chunk of my favourite music at the moment has been released under the Ninja Tune label. From the Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra and their afrobeat revolutionary beats.. the experimental Cinematic Orchestra… crazy mixing from Mr.Scruff… mesmerising sounds from Bonobo..
…it was all Ninja Tune!!
And so it was that i settled down to select some of my favourite songs from these releases for the podcast.. not an easy task, especially when you are dealing with genres from Nu-Jazz to Instrumental Hip Hop and Drum and Bass…
Wikipedia will tell you that Matt Black and Jonathan Moore (Coldcut) were the founders… and all the other details, but all that really matters is the quality of the music. ..
.. and it is indeed quality!
Check out my podcast this Sunday 6th of June at 7pm GMT on DirtyRadio.org to hear what tracks i selected for the show and to celebrate 20 years of Ninja Tune!!!
